Design notes: how a real, global leaderboard could work
This site is static: there is no server and no accounts, so a shared leaderboard is not possible today and we don’t pretend otherwise. A future version could use Cloudflare Pages Functions plus Workers KV (or D1):
- Submit:
POST /api/leaderboardwith a nickname and summary stats (return %, trades, win rate, max drawdown). A Function validates ranges, rate-limits per IP, and writes to KV/D1. - Read:
GET /api/leaderboardreturns the top N, cached at the edge for a minute. - Trust problem: numbers come from the browser, so they can be faked. Fixes: only rank runs with a minimum number of trades and period; have a Function record each fill against server-fetched prices (a much bigger build); label the board “self-reported”; add moderation and a report button.
- Privacy: nicknames only, no emails, a short retention period, a delete-my-entry route, and a privacy notice before launch (Australian Privacy Act).
- Abuse: profanity filter on nicknames, one entry per browser token, Cloudflare Turnstile on submit.
